Attorney General Sorrell attended the Spring conference of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) in Washington D.C. in February 2010. New Hampshire AG Michael Delaney and Maine AG Janet Mills are pictured here with Bill Sorrell (pictured on the right) outside the Vice President’s residence. The State Attorneys General met with President Obama, Vice-President Biden, Attorney General Eric Holder, and AAG Christine Varney, the head of the Antitrust Division of the Justice Department, and other federal officials to discuss issues of shared interest to federal and state government. “On February 1, 2010, General Sorrell will participate as a guest judge in the We The People competition at the Vermont Statehouse. This program encourages high school students to learn about all aspects of the U.S. Constitution and its applicability to challenges in the contemporary works. High school teams from throughout Vermont will compete for the national competition in Washington, D.C.” In early November of 2009, Bill gave a talk and did a question and answer session with Cub Scouts from Pack 651 in Burlington, VT for their Citizenship badge requirements. On April 14, 2011, The Humane Society of the United States honored Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell and Criminal Division Chief Cindy Maguire at the Vermont Statehouse this morning with the Humane Law Enforcement Award for 2010 in recognition of the Attorney General’s work in the prosecution of former staff members of Bushway Packing Inc., a former slaughterhouse in Grand Isle, Vermont. The Attorney General makes a varity of public appearances speaking to schools, social organizations, and rotary clubs. |
