Attorney General Files Suit Against Vermont Festival Organizer

CONTACT: Ryan Kriger, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-3170

December 3, 2013

Attorney General William Sorrell recently filed a lawsuit against Charles Nestor of St. Johnsbury, Vermont. The complaint alleges that in 2011, Mr. Nestor, doing business as “Expos and Shows” and “Made in Vermont USA,” collected thousands of dollars from Vermont businesses and craftspeople to be part of a “Made in Vermont Festival” to be held in Burlington, and a “Guide to Made in Vermont Products/Services.” The Festival never took place and the Guide was never published, and the businesses that paid to be exhibitors, vendors, and sponsors lost their money.

Fifteen businesses have filed complaints with the Vermont Consumer Assistance Program. Mr. Nestor has denied wrongdoing.

Any business that paid to be part of this festival, knows of other businesses that may have been defrauded, or has additional information, should contact the Consumer Assistance Program at (800) 649-2424 or http://www.uvm.edu/consumer/.
