Press ReleasesAttorney General Sorrell Posts Presentation On Online Safety For StudentsCONTACT: Ryan G. Kriger, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-5479 June 1, 2012 Despite a flood and tornado watch, intrepid students, parents, and educators came out on Tuesday, May 29, to hear a presentation, sponsored by Attorney General Bill Sorrell and Essex High School Principal Rob Reardon, on how to be safe when using Facebook. The video, filmed by Channel 17, is available on the Attorney General’s website. Topics of the presentation included the general anatomy of a Facebook page; how to report, prevent and diffuse instances of bullying on Facebook; how to use Facebook’s privacy settings; age restrictions; and how to use these tools for better protection. There was also an informative Q&A session after the presentation. Facebook is the largest social networking site on the internet. This program is part of Attorney General Sorrell’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all Vermonters are well informed about internet safety practices. |
