Attorney General William Sorrell Supports National Drug Take-Back Initiative

CONTACT: Micaela Tucker, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-5341

September 21, 2010

On September 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Vermont state and local law enforcement departments will serve as anonymous collection points for expired, unwanted, or unused prescription medications and other controlled pharmaceutical products for destruction. The purpose of the program is to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from medicine cabinets in order to eliminate the risk that these abandoned drugs will become a source of illegal use in our communities.

The program is anonymous and free of charge. For more information and to find the nearest collection site to you, follow this link to the Drug Enforcement Administration website: http://www.dea.gov.
