Attorney General’s Initiative To Address Obesity In Vermont - Kick-Off Meeting And Presentations

On Wednesday, February 17, 2010, the Attorney General will host the initial meeting to launch a new multi-disciplinary public initiative to identify and develop actions to complement the work of the Departments of Health and Education to address obesity in Vermont. More than 80 stakeholders will participate in the initiative.

Starting at 9am, Yale University’s Dr. Kelly Brownell, a prominent expert on the subject, will present on “Obesity: States as Game Changers.” Representatives from the Vermont Department of Health and Department of Education will outline current programs in their respective departments.

The Rudd Center’s mission is to improve the world’s diet, to prevent obesity, and to reduce weight stigma by combining science with public policy. This center brings together experts from nutrition, psychology, law, economics, business and more to produce real change.
