East Montpelier Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that Michael Karlberg, of East Montpelier, Vermont, has been charged with one felony count of Promoting a Recording of Sexual Conduct by a Child and four felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography. The charges stem from a shared investigation between the Vermont Attorney General’s Office and Vermont’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and originated with a complaint received from the Austin, Texas, Police Department. According to documents filed with the court, Mr. Karlberg recorded video chats with a juvenile during which the juvenile engaged in sexual conduct.

Mr. Karlberg pleaded not guilty today at his arraignment in the Washington Criminal Division and he was released on conditions including conditions that limit his access to minors and the internet.
