CONTACT: Evan Meenan, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-5512

March 14, 2012

Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that on March 13, 2012, David Lang was sentenced in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Chittenden Unit, after pleading guilty to three felony counts of possession of child pornography. Lang presently resides in Grand Isle Vermont, but at the time of the crime he resided in South Burlington.

The charges resulted from a shared investigation between the South Burlington Police Department, Burlington Police Department, and Vermont’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). The affidavit filed with the court alleges that Mr. Lang obtained child pornography over the internet using Peer-to-Peer file sharing programs.

The Court sentenced Mr. Lang to five to fifteen years in jail, all suspended, and placed him on probation for fifteen years. While on probation, Mr. Lang will be subject to standard conditions and special conditions, including that he successfully complete sex offender treatment, register as a sex offender, not have contact with children without approval from his probation officer, and that he abide by restrictions to Internet access as specified by his probation officer.
