There are resources available to help Vermonters gather information, get assistance and help others in need. For consumer information, questions or concerns about transactions with businesses, consumer fraud and other assistance, email CAP or call 800-649-2424. Report Price GougingIf you are concerned about a sudden increase in pricing for goods or services needed for recovery efforts, file a complaint with CAP. The Attorney General's Office is reviewing price gouging complaints carefully in the wake of the storm. Avoid and Report Home Improvement FraudFor information on how to avoid Home Improvement Fraud, visit our Home Improvement FAQ's page, or email us for more information. To report Home Improvement Fraud, contact your local law enforcement agency or file a complaint with CAP. Charity scamsBeware of phony storm relief "charities" calling to solicit funds. Any legitimate charity will be able to send you information by mail. Consumers should not provide bank account or payment information over the phone to any caller unless the consumer is sure of the source of the call. Any charity that has hired a paid fundraiser to solicit funds in Vermont must be registered with the Vermont Attorney General's Office.
