October 18, 2012

Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that Dr. Cynthia Haselton of Colchester, Vermont, was arraigned on, and pleaded guilty to, one felony count of prescription fraud. The conviction stemmed from a course of conduct which involved Dr. Haselton writing prescriptions for Adderall over several years to non-existent patients and then having the prescriptions filled at various pharmacies in Chittenden and Addison Counties.

Dr. Haselton was sentenced to a four year deferred sentence, during which time she will be required to perform 200 hours of community service and adhere to standard and special conditions of probation, including drug treatment and testing. She has also agreed that if she violates any of her conditions of probation that the State can bring additional charges for any criminal conduct, which could have been charged as of the date of her conviction. Dr. Haselton’s license to practice medicine is currently inactive.
