CONTACT: Evan Meenan, Assistant Attorney General, 802 828-5512

March 5, 2014

Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that Stuart Lizotte, Jr. of Rutland, Vermont has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, two counts of Promoting Child Pornography, and one count of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a Child. On August 1, 2013, Mr. Lizotte was also charged with one additional count of Promoting Child Pornography and four counts of felony level Possession of Child Pornography.

According to documents filed with the Court, Lizotte transmitted a video containing child pornography over the internet via email. A subsequent search of his various pieces of computer equipment revealed that he was in possession of several other images of child pornography and that he had produced video recordings of himself subjecting children under the age of 16 to nonconsensual sexual acts. The investigation began when Lizotte’s email provider contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and reported the email containing child pornography Lizotte transmitted. The tip was forwarded to an investigator with the Vermont Attorney General’s Office.

Lizotte was arrested following an investigation by the Vermont Attorney General’s Office with assistance from the Vermont State Police, the Rutland Office for Special Investigations, the South Burlington Police Department, and the Rutland Police Department. Lizotte has pled not guilty to all the charges and is currently held on $25,000 bail.
