Press ReleasesRutland Woman Convicted On Two Counts Of Selling CocaineCONTACT: Robert Menzel, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-5512 October 27, 2011 Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell announced today that on October 26, 2011, Dallas Sears of Rutland, Vermont was convicted by a jury on two counts of felony sale of cocaine. According to affidavits filed with the Court and the evidence presented at trial, during September and October of 2009, participating members of the Southern Vermont Drug Task Force began an investigation into the distribution of cocaine in the Brandon and Rutland areas. As part of this investigation, Sears sold approximately 1.1 grams of crack cocaine to an individual cooperating with the Vermont Drug Task Force on September 3, 2009. She also sold approximately 1.5 grams of powder cocaine to that same individual on October 20, 2009. Following her conviction, the Court ordered a presentence investigation after which it will hold a sentencing hearing. In the meantime, Sears is being held on bail awaiting trial on several other drug related charges. |
