Springfield Man Arrested For Possession and Promotion of Child Pornography

Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that Daniel J. Gay, Jr., of Springfield, Vermont, has been arrested for felony level Possession and Promotion of Child Pornography.

The arrest resulted from a shared investigation between the Vermont Attorney General’s Office and Vermont’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This investigation revealed that Mr. Gay obtained and distributed child pornography over the internet using peer-to-peer file sharing programs. Computers connect to peer-to-peer networks via publicly available software that permits them to trade pictures and movies, including those containing child pornography, with other computers all around the world.

Mr. Gay pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on conditions including conditions that limited his access to children and the internet.
