Press ReleasesTwo Hancock Men Charged With Sale Of MethamphetamineCONTACT: Robert Menzel, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-5512 November 21, 2012 Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that Michael Wood, age 42, and Steven Arnold, age 20, both of Hancock, Vermont, were arraigned on November 21, 2012, in Addison County Superior Court on several charges relating to the sale of methamphetamine. The court imposed bail in the amount of $75,000.00 on Mr. Wood, and $25,000.00 for Mr. Arnold. According to papers filed in court, Mr. Arnold is accused of two sales of methamphetamine, allegedly taking place on November 14 and November 19, 2012. Mr. Wood is charged with aiding in the commission of those sales, and both men are charged with conspiracy to sell methamphetamine. Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges. The charges each carry a maximum penalty of up to five years imprisonment, and/or a fine of $100,000.00. Also arrested in connection with the same investigation was Meegan Smith, age 32. The court ordered Ms. Smith held without bail on a charge of violation of probation, and ordered her held on $100,000.00 bail as a fugitive from two New York charges of possession of methamphetamine precursors. The investigation resulting in these arrests was conducted by the Vermont Drug Task Force. |
