Press ReleasesRutland Woman Sentenced For Prescription Fraud, Identity Theft And Theft Of ServicesCONTACT: Ultan Doyle, Assistant Attorney General, (802) 828-5512 September 12, 2011 Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that Ashleigh Burns, age 27, of Rutland, Vermont, was sentenced on September 8, 2011, in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Rutland County. Ms. Burns had previously been convicted of three felony counts of prescription fraud, four felony counts of identity theft, and one felony count and three misdemeanor counts of theft of services. The convictions stemmed from Ms. Burns using another person’s identity to receive medical services in four different counties in Vermont so that she could obtain prescriptions for various pain medications. Judge Cortland Corsones sentenced Ms. Burns to 20 months to four years to serve in prison. |
