Whitingham Man Sentenced For Possession Of Child Pornography

Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced today that James Cashatt, age 29, of Whitingham, Vermont, was sentenced on July 1, 2011, in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windham County, after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography.

Judge David Suntag sentenced Mr. Cashatt to nine to ten years in jail, all suspended, and placed him on probation for ten years. While on probation, Mr. Cashatt will be subject to standard conditions and special conditions, including conditions that he successfully complete sex offender treatment, register as a sex offender, and not have contact with children without the approval of his probation officer. This case was investigated by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
