Two attorneys and a paralegal provide legal assistance to the Department of Health on a variety of issues such as health protection (e.g., enforcement of lead, asbestos, and smoking laws), health surveillance (e.g., vital records questions and disease outbreak problems), health improvement (e.g., legal concerns related to children's health), and substance abuse (e.g., drafting of alcohol and drug abuse counselor licensing regulations).
