The Civil Rights Unit conducts investigations of complaints of violations of the laws listed below.

- It is illegal for anyone to retaliate against a person for filing a complaint with the Civil Rights Unit
The Civil Rights Unit enforces the following laws:
Drug Testing Act
Fair Employment Practices Act --It is illegal
- to discriminate against an individual because of race, color, religion, ancestry national origin, sex, sexual orientation, place of birth, or age, or against a qualified individual with a disability or an HIV positive individual
- to harass an individual on the basis of sex
- to pay unequal wages solely on the basis of sex
